How to Check Your Documents

LayoutChecker helps you compare a group of PDF design files against one reference template. The files are loaded into your browser memory and processed locally on your computer.

1. Open Layout Checker

Click Layout Checker in the top menu. This opens the document checking workspace.

2. Load the Reference Template

In the first block, load one main PDF file. This file is the approved layout that all other files will be compared against.

You can drag the file into the reference area or use the file selection button below the reference block.

Only one reference template can be loaded at a time.

3. Load the Files to Check

In the second block, load the PDF files that you want to inspect. These are the documents that will be compared with the reference template.

You can load multiple files at once. The current batch limit depends on the server settings.

After loading, the file list shows which files are stored in browser memory and ready for inspection.

4. Load a Template Profile if Needed

If you already have a saved template profile, load it before continuing to the editor.

A template profile contains previously saved inspection regions. This lets you reuse the same checking setup for similar files.

5. Continue to the Region Editor

After the reference template and files to check are loaded, click Continue to editor.

The editor opens the reference PDF. Use the page navigation buttons to move between pages.

6. Draw Inspection Regions

Click points on the reference PDF to draw a polygon around the object or area you want to check.

Use polygon regions for both rectangular and non-rectangular objects.

After placing the points, click Finish polygon to save the region.

7. Edit Polygon Regions

You can adjust a polygon after it is created.

• Drag a node to move it.
• Click a line to add a new node.
• Double-click a node to delete it.
• Select a region to change its object type.
• Use the delete buttons to remove the selected region, all regions on the current page, or all regions in the document.

8. Choose the Region Type

For each region, choose what kind of object it represents.

• Static area: use this when the selected area must stay visually identical.
• Text area: use this for text blocks where text position and visual appearance matter.
• Logo: use this for brand logos and fixed graphic marks.
• QR / Barcode: use this for machine-readable codes.
• Table: use this for structured visual blocks such as tables.
• Ignore area: use this for areas that should not be checked.

9. Add Regions on Different Pages

Regions are stored per PDF page. Move to another page and create additional regions there if needed.

A region created on one page belongs only to that page.

10. Run a Region-Based Check

Click Run check when your inspection regions are ready.

LayoutChecker compares the selected regions in every loaded file against the reference template.

This mode is useful when you want to check specific objects such as logos, text blocks, tables, codes, or fixed design areas.

11. Run a Full Check

Click Run Full check if you want LayoutChecker to compare the documents without manually defined regions.

Full check analyzes the reference document and compares the loaded files against it page by page.

This mode is useful for quickly finding general visual differences across the whole document.

12. Wait for the Check to Finish

During checking, a progress window shows the current stage of the process.

The application may prepare PDF pages, inspect document structure, compare visuals, check text positions, and prepare the report.

13. Review the Results

After checking, the results table shows all inspected files and detected issues.

Each row includes the file name, page, region, similarity score, and status.

• Passed: no relevant issue was detected.
• Warning: a possible issue was detected and should be reviewed.
• Failed: a stronger difference or problem was detected.

If a result has a warning or failure, the status explains the type of issue, such as visual difference, text shift, structure difference, font issue, color issue, or missing PDF data.

14. Open the Visual Preview

When a file contains an issue, click its preview in the results table.

A comparison window opens with the reference template on the left and the checked file on the right.

The affected area is highlighted so you can compare the difference visually.

If no issue was found on a page, the file preview is not clickable.

15. Export the Report

You can export the inspection report after reviewing the results.

Available formats include CSV, JSON, and HTML.

Use the exported report for archiving, sharing with colleagues, or documenting quality control results.

16. Start a New Check

Click Start new check to clear the current session and return to the first step.

You can then load a new reference template and a new set of files.

Important Privacy Note

Your PDF files are processed locally in your browser. The files are not uploaded to the server for inspection.

The server is used for application files, settings, translations, modules, and website pages. It does not receive the content of your loaded PDF documents during inspection.
